The Actors Fund & Hollywood Museum Remember A Hollywood Hero: Dale Olson

A celebrated list of industry elite will gather to honor one of Hollywood’s greatest cheerleaders – Dale Olson.  The Actors Fund and The Hollywood Museum (formerly The Max Factor Museum), will host a memorial for one of the entertainment industry’s greatest publicists and industry insiders, who passed in early August. A lobby exhibit will be designed to highlight the remarkable career of the man who many have referred to as the guardian of the Golden Era of Hollywood. Among Olson’s longtime personal clients over the years have been Shirley MacLaine, Steve McQueen, Gene Kelly, Doris Roberts, Marion Ross, Clint Eastwood, Lord Laurence Olivier, Peter Ustinov, Robert Blake, Tony Curtis, Cleo Laine, Diane Ladd, Jean Stapleton, Marilyn Monroe, and the late Rock Hudson, for whom he was spokesperson during his battle with AIDS.

Other affiliations include West Coast editor of Boxoffice Magazine, Variety, The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle and more than 150 motion picture campaigns.  He also served as Senior Vice President and President of the Motion Picture Division and on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Public Relations Coordinating Committee and Executive Committee for more than 20 years. In addition, he has served as a Trustee and on the Executive Committee for The Actors Fund.

The Hollywood Museum reopens on Friday, September 21st, 2012.

EDITORS/PRODUCERS: “This is great loss for The Actors Fund. Dale was a staunch advocate for this organization, and I’m personally humbled by his commitment and dedication. When the HIV/AIDS crisis devastated the entertainment community, Dale was among the first to speak out for those suffering and in need. His work led to programs and services that bring comfort and relief for thousands of our clients every year across the country. I speak for everyone at The Fund when I say he will be sorely missed.” – Brian Stokes Mitchell/Actors Fund Chairman
