HOLLYWOOD, Feb. 17, 2016 – The Hollywood Museum will once again proudly present the annual
“Celebration of Entertainment Awards” exhibit. Visitors to the museum will have an opportunity to see this specially urated exhibit featuring costumes, props, posters and iconic images from current Academy Award® nominated films, plus this year’s awards season winners in film and television shows including Trumbo, The Danish Girl, Peanuts The Movie, Youth, Brooklyn, Inside Out, The Big Short, Straight Outta Compton, Anomalisa and more. Award-winning and popular TV shows on display include Orange is the New Black, The Good Wife, Walking Dead, Ray Donovan, Mad Men, Veep, Transparent, Bessie, Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe, Silcon Valley, Grace and Frankie, The Knick, House of Lies, among others.
The exhibit brings to life scenes from films and TV featuring costumes, props and art, as they
appeared in the film/TV shows – and spotlights the magic of movies and television excellence at the height of the awards season.
In addition, The Hollywood Museum will showcase award statuettes from the Oscars®, Golden
Globes®, Screen Actors Guild Awards®, People’s Choice Awards®, Independent Spirit Awards®, among others. Also highlighted is a look at red carpet fashions over the years with dresses worn by Marilyn Monroe, Sharon Stone, Cate Blanchett, Lucille Ball, Barbara Stanwyck and more.

The Hollywood Museum and co-sponsor The Hollywood Reporter debut “Loretta Young: Hollywood Legend,” the most comprehensive collection of authentic Hollywood memorabilia ever assembled, to mark the 100th Anniversary of the life of Loretta Young, beginning January 9, 2013. The Hollywood Museum has created a vibrant celebration of the movie star and fashion icon of the 20th Century, offering an intimate look at this remarkable woman, her career and her intriguing personal life. The first actress to win both an Academy Award® and an Emmy Award®, Young’s professional longevity spans over seven decades – beginning as a child ingénue during the Silent Era of motion pictures, attaining star status as a romantic leading lady during Hollywood’s Golden Age, and onto television as the host of her own popular dramatic series, The Loretta Young Show, on NBC. The “Loretta Young: Hollywood Legend” exhibit explores her personal life including love letters from Spencer Tracy and Clark Gable, among other leading men in her life. The comprehensive collection includes never before displayed items gathered from family, friends and private collectors. The exhibit presents Miss Young’s designer clothing and accessories from her personal wardrobe, costumes, photographs, contracts, documents, private papers including her handwritten correspondence, home movies, Academy Awards® and Emmy Awards® and more.
Jean Louis, Academy Award® winning Hollywood costume designer and Loretta Young’s husband, is featured in an exclusive glamorous costume display. Mr. Louis was the designer for many mega stars including Rita Hayworth, Marlene Dietrich, Judy Garland, Betty Grable, Joan Crawford, Doris Day, Julie Andrews and Marilyn Monroe.
“We are delighted to spotlight one of the greatest Hollywood legends, Loretta Young,” said Donelle Dadigan, Founder and President of The Hollywood Museum, “whose star talents transcended motion pictures and television. It is especially poignant to showcase the collection at The Hollywood Museum in the historic Max Factor Building as Loretta Young was the first Max Factor makeup model.”

- Movie Star Make-up – Loretta Young was the first Max Factor Girl. A star dressing table highlighted by photos of Loretta Young with Max Factor (Loretta Young was the first Max Factor Girl) will include Max Factor’s signature line of make-up designed for Miss Young and his brunettes.
- Loretta at Home – Personal Collection of dresses, gowns, shoes, gloves & jewelry worn in Miss Young’s personal life as well as décor from her homes in Beverly Hills and Palm Springs. Two of Miss Young’s favorite gowns designed by Academy Award winning costumer Jean Louis, worn on numerous occasions at The White House and Los Angeles Charity Galas.
- Timeless Beauty – Photo collection spanning her career in film and television as well as many candid shots with friends and family
- As Seen With – Photo Collection of Miss Young with fellow Hollywood actors and celebrities, Royalty and Heads of State.

The Nation’s Largest Exhibit Of Authentic Memorabilia Honors Monroe’s Life and the 50th Anniversary Milestone of Her Passing
“Marilyn Monroe: Hollywood Legend,” the nation’s largest exhibit of authentic memorabilia celebrating the fabled actress’ life at The Hollywood Museum due to popular demand. This year marks the 50th anniversary milestone of Monroe’s passing. The Hollywood Museum in the Historic Max Factor Building is located at 1660 N. Highland Ave. at Hollywood and Highland.
The scope of the exhibition encompasses Marilyn Monroe’s million-dollar honeymoon dress; publicity gowns; jewelry from her films, special appearances, and personal collection; clothing and accessories from her personal wardrobe; original documents and private files from her home in Brentwood; original Marilyn Monroe photographs; and many Marilyn Monroe personally owned artifacts including:
- The million-dollar honeymoon dress that Marilyn wore on her honeymoon with husband, baseball legend Joe DiMaggio in 1954. This was Marilyn’s favorite personal gown, designed by Ceil Chapman, hand-beaded in Marilyn’s signature style. She wore this gown on numerous occasions over the balance of her life, including on her USO tour to Korea (1954) where she entertained 10,000 troops over the course of several days.
- Never before seen photographs, including the photos taken in Marilyn’s last professional photo shoot, by her close personal friend, George Barris.
- “Red Velvet” photo session and infamous “Golden Dreams” calendar: In 1949, Marilyn Monroe was a struggling young actress. To earn quick money for a delinquent car payment, Marilyn accepted $50 to pose nude for photographer Tom Kelley, in what became known as the legendary “Red Velvet” photos.
- Max Factor ‘s “Blondes Only Makeup Room,” where he gave Marilyn her famous blonde hair; and also see Marilyn’s makeup case and other personal items on display.
- A vial of prescription medication, known as Decadron, found in Marilyn’s bedside table the morning after she died.
- Original contemporary works of art by famed artist LUDVIC.
- A vast photograph collection of many never-before-seen photos of Marilyn’s childhood, family and early modeling career, including an array of photographs showing how Monroe lived, worked and played in Los Angeles.
- The Nikon camera and lens that George Barris used during Marilyn’s last official photo session is on display.
- Marilyn Monroe’s personal letters, invoices, receipts, and financial accounting documents showcasing in great detail the personal and very private life of the greatest film star of all time.

]]>In celebration of Michael Jackson ‘s legendary career, The Hollywood Museum has a special tribute to the “King of Pop, “ including the original outfit he wore on his “BAD” concert tour. Jackson would have celebrated his 54th birthday in 2012.
As a child, he was lead singer of the Jackson family‘s popular Motown group, The Jackson 5. Michael Jackson went on to become one of the most internationally famous award-winning solo pop sensations to date. His 2009 death stirred controversy and was ultimately ruled an accidental overdose

Max Factor developed his “Color Harmony” techniques in 1918. These powders enabled him to customize and provide more consistent make-up for each individual actor or actress. In 1935 when Max Factor opened his new studio on Highland Boulevard in Hollywood, the main floor featured four makeup rooms that transformed the “look” of Hollywood forever.

]]>I LOVE LUCY was recently voted the “Best TV Show of All Time” by ABC News, People Magazine and Barbara Walters. America’s Favorite Comediene, Lucille Ball and the Genius of Desi Arnaz continue to charm the hearts of fans worldwide and The Hollywood Museum has the largest Lucy collection west of the Mississippi!
“The Hollywood Museum in the Historic Max Factor Building is the perfect venue for this exhibit because it’s where Max Factor gave Lucille Ball her famous red hair,” says Museum President Donelle Dadigan. “The ‘RED HEADS ONLY’ Room has been carefully preserved in her memory today.”

I Love Lucy is the cornerstone of modern-day sitcoms and set the gold standard of family entertainment. Remember the most beloved episodes of the show including Lucy’s hilarious attempt to pass herself off as a prima ballerina, her laugh-out-loud audition for Vitameatavegimen, her side-splitting time grape-stomping at an Italian vineyard, her famed shenanigans in a chocolate factory, and much more. The museum’s historic connection to Lucy is the reason the U.S. Postal Service chose to unveil its official Lucille Ball commemorative stamp here in 2001.
